Last week, I bought a Creative Options Thread Organizer off Amazon and did an unboxing video of it. If you missed that video, you can watch it here.
Well, now I've had a week to get to know it, and I've formed a few opinions on this thing as a method for storing floss.
First off, I love this thing. I wish I could love it a little bit more, but it does have one flaw that unfortunately ripples out and causes a few issues. But it's enormous, and can easily fit an entire set up DMC stranded cotton floss in it. But it's enormous without having lost the ability to travel, which I love even more. It has a handle for easy carrying, and even though it's roughly the size of four standard craft boxes, it doesn't seem too big or cumbersome.
The one problem I do have with this thing, however, is the fact that this thing isn't meant for embroidery floss, and doesn't hold plastic floss bobbins very well. I'm the sort of person who likes to store their floss bobbins on their sides, so you can both see the colour and the number of the floss. I also feel like storing floss on its side just makes it easier to remove and replace bobbins as you use them. Because this organiser isn't meant for floss, but for spools of sewing machine thread, the compartments aren't large enough to hold the bobbins sideways. You have to store them upright, which both makes it difficult to remove and replace floss, and makes the lid very difficult to close. But because this thing wasn't meant for floss in the first place, it's difficult to be too annoyed about it not being able to fit floss.
